Self Love

This poem was never supposed to belong in the “for loved ones” section.

While planning this collection, I kept making lists of people these poems could be gifted to—friends, lovers, family, souls we hold close. Yet somehow, I never wrote my own name down.

Until one quiet night, I realized something softly heartbreaking:

I, too, am someone I have loved through everything.

And so this became the very first poem in this collection. A reminder that we deserve tenderness from ourselves too. That our rooms, our solitude, our healing hearts deserve poetry just as much as anyone else.

Maybe this is your sign to gift yourself a poem for surviving all the days no one saw.
